Agri-preneur tour marks Abra OFW Family Day celebration

BANGUED, Abra – In recognition of Overseas Filipino Workers as the country’s modern-day heroes and the government’s partner in nation-building, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-Cordillera led the celebration of the OFW Family Day in the capital town through an agri-preneur tour.

The vacationing OFWs, OFW federation, returnees, and their families were toured at the Sevilleja’s Farm in Barangay Abaquid, Danglas and in Mount Carmel in Galicia, Pidigan.

There were also learning sessions on program reintegration and lecture-demonstrations.

OWWA Regional Director Manuela Peña said the OFW Family Day is an annual occasion to recognize the sacrifices of OFWs and their families, who, as they dream for better future, also bear the social cost of migration that threatens family solidarity.

It is also a day of entertainment with food treats, fun games, and raffles.

The OFW Family Day is also government’s way of giving recognition to OFWs’ contribution in uplifting the economy and in nation-building.

OWWA protects and promotes the interest of member-OFWs. It develops responsive programs and services for the social protection of its members. It provides social benefits, education and training; and welfare, repatriation, and reintegration services to its members.
