Baguio media organization elects new set of officers

BCBC 2019 OFFICERS -- The Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club elected its new set of officers on Jan. 27. Bombo Radyo Baguio anchor Jordan Tablac has been elected the new president of the oldest and largest media organization in northern Luzon.

Tablac ran unopposed in the election of new officers of the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) held at the Ibaloy Heritage Garden on Jan.  27. 

Other elected officers are Dexter See of Herald Express and the Public Information Office of the Baguio City government, vice president for print; Darius Bajo of GMA 7, vice president for TV; Maria Elena Catajan of Sunstar Baguio, secretary; Hanna Lacsamana of the Baguio Midland Courier, treasurer; Cesar Reyes of Peoples Tonight, auditor.

Elected members of the Board of Directors are Frank Cimatu of Baguio Chronicle and Rappler, Aldwin Quitasol of Newsbytes.ph, and Roderick Osis of Sunstar Baguio.

Tablac said that he will continue the traditional activities of the BCBC and will partner with government and non-government agencies for other projects and engagements to maintain the camaraderie among media colleagues.

Among his plans is to partner with the Presidential Communication Operations Office through Asec. Marie Rafael for the orientation on the Freedom of Information and the Gender and Development Awareness for Media.

Tablac added that BCBC’s long running Lucky Summer Visitor project during the Holy Week will be improved this year with additional activities in and around Baguio and nearby areas in Benguet and La Union.

Outgoing BCBC president Jonathan Munar of Radyo Pilipinas Baguio thanked the members for the support during his stint as BCBC president.

He also thanked the different partners including individuals, groups, offices, and organizations who have partnered with the BCBC in the different projects and programs.

The election was also a thanksgiving and family day for the members of the working media in Baguio City and the Cordillera.
