Deadline for SOV 2019 extended
by Maria Aprila W. Cruz / PIA

Nominations for the Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) 2019 are still accepted until Aug. 15.

The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) has extended the deadline from July 15 to Aug. 15 to give the public more time to submit nominations.

The SOV aims to recognize the contributions of individuals and organizations currently providing volunteer assistance for development and inclusive growth.

There are two award categories – the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA) and the National Outstanding Volunteer Award (NOVA).

The search is open to individuals and organizations currently providing volunteer assistance in the Philippines.

Filipino citizens, Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international non-profit organizations, and Filipino or local chapters of foreign/international corporate organizations are qualified to join the search.

The VLAA is awarded to an individual or organization with consistent and outstanding volunteer service and whose achievement is regarded as an inspiration and role model in the field.

Individuals or organizations with exceptional contribution to the development agenda of the government resulting in positive outputs of volunteerism may be conferred the NOVA.

Nominations should be submitted on or before Aug. 15 to the Regional Search Committee chaired by the National Economic and Development Authority.

Details on how to participate and nominate to the SOV, including the RSC directory, are available at   www.pnvsca.gov.ph and the agency’s Facebook page: www. facebook.com/PNVSCA.
The public can also contact the NEDA-Cordillera at 442-3232 or send queries to car@neda.gov.ph.

Winners will be awarded during the celebration of the National Volunteer Month in December.

Since 2001, 147 volunteers and volunteer organizations have been recognized by the national government through the SOV.

The search has served as a venue to celebrate the significant contributions of volunteers from various sectors to the improvement of the lives of countless Filipinos.
