265 scholars finish free TVET program
by Glenda G. Marquez

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A total of 265 scholars from Benguet graduated under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA) scholarship program of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Tesda-Benguet has forged a memorandum of agreement with the Benguet Technical School (BTS) as a provider of free TVET to enhance the productivity of beneficiaries and for them to be productive citizens in the community.

The scholarship enabled the graduates to acquire the necessary competencies in their chosen qualification, namely Automotive Servicing National Certificate I and II; Bread and Pastry Production NC II; Beauty Care NC II; Hairdressing NC II; Tailoring NC II; Dressmaking NCII and Japanese Language Proficiency.

It also supports the human capital development goal of Benguet through the provision of skills trainings to the youth, indigenous peoples, out of school youth, and other sectors.

Senior TESD Specialist Ferdinand Montanez said the intervention of the government will help the youth and other sectors to have better chances of being employed and self-employed or as entrepreneurs.

He also urged the TVET graduates to continue enhancing their skills and consider TVET as a career choice.

BTS school administrator Flora Manuel lauded the graduates for completing and choosing TVET education as their career choice.
