Am-among Western Australia gives back to Northern Sagada
by Francis B. Degay

The Am-among Organization in Western Australia donated cash and supplies to the day care centers of barangays Banga-an and Aguid in Sagada, Mountain Province.

Desiree Alunday Lucas, one of the members of the group, delivered P80,000 to Banga-an Day Care Center and 30 kiddie plastic chairs, 10 plastic tables, and one 39-inch television set worth P25,000 for Aguid Day Care Center.

The financial assistance for Banga-an will be used in rehabilitating the two indoor comfort rooms and the outside lavatory used by the pupils for washing and brushing their teeth. Part of the fund will be used for the fen-cing of the lavatory.

The project was coordinated with Florence Lusad Ledsey, also one of the members.

Last year, the group also donated one patient/cardiac monitor, five nebuli-zers, and eight tympanic thermometers to the Bontoc General Hospital.

The Am-among Organization was organized with its mission of providing services and assistance to the communities as a way of promoting harmony and bestowing social obligations to the rural communities in Mountain Province and other places that need assistance.

Its members are those born in Mountain Province or connected to anybody in the province by affinity and children of members or any Cordilleran who resided at one point in Mountain Province who are willing to embrace the by-laws and actively participate in the activities of the organization.

Its officers are Tacio Yag-as – chair, Charlotte Cenon Tuazon – vice chair, Ledsey – secretary, Lucas – assistant secretary, Therese Fagkangan Grajo – treasurer, Elaine Fagyan Degay – auditor, and Elaine Inchan Yag-as – press relations officer.
