by Marcelo B. Lihgawon / PIA

ASIPULO, Ifugao – The observance of the Fire Prevention Month in the province culminated here last week with a fire olympics spearheaded by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

BFP Cordillera Director C/Supt. Maria Sofia Mendoza, in her message delivered by Supt. Joey Abary, said the fire olympics was meant not only as a competition but also a time for fire fighters to gather and establish teamwork.

It also emphasizes the BFP’s commitment to promote and strengthen fire safety in the community.

Delegates from the Municipal Police Station and municipal government, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, BFP, Philippine Army Bravo Company; and the Community Force Auxiliary Groups of Kiangan, Asipulo, Alfonso Lista and Asipulo joined in the activities such as emergency response team, hose on shoulder relay, bucket relay, tug-of-war, and wheel barrow race.

Kiangan bagged the first place in replacement of busted hose, bucket relay and flammable liquid fire extinguisher, followed by Alfonso Lista and Lagawe placing second and third, respectively.

The BFP won in the inter-agency competition, followed by the Philippine Army and Asipulo MPS.
