by Michelle G. Laruan

The 2008 batch of Development Communication students of Benguet State University had their second wave of community outreach in Tawang, Beleng-Belis, Kapangan, Benguet last Sept. 22.

The outreach was in celebration of their 10th year anniversary as graduates. The batch had their first outreach in Ampongot, Kapangan last May.

Forty sacks of dry goods (clothes, bags, shoes, and toys), 500 pieces of pandesal, 50 pieces dishwashing paste, medicines (vitamins and paracetamol), 80 pieces toothpaste and toothbrush, and 181 pieces notebooks, 40 pieces sharpeners and colorpens, and books were given to the community.

The items were solicited from their batchmates, relatives, and friends.

Members of the community helped carry the items to be donated.

The beneficiary  community has around 30 households whose main source of livelihood is rice farming.

The batch is planning to have their last wave of community outreach this year by donating dry goods and conducting a medical mission.
