Trail run culminates Bontoc’s twin events

BONTOC, Mountain Province – A 65-year old woman participated in the 22-kilometer Am-among trail run on Sept. 30.

Paula Acofo, the oldest among the participants, was among the 115 runners who completed the run.

Of the total, 49 registered in the 42K category; 54 in the 12K; and 52 in the 6K. 

The participants are residents and mountain trail running enthusiasts from nearby municipalities and neighboring provinces.

In the 6K male category, Zendrac Dave Fagsao emerged as the champion with a time of 42 minutes. Anthony Fawagan is first place followed by Rogerson Sacyaten, Vican Farnican, and Sydney Ing-inga.

Aura Parongong is the champion in the 6K, female category. Marilou Pacyaan came is first place, followed by Juralee Gallardo, Izzy Cheska Paydowan, and Tanny Fe Sokoken.

Age category champions in the 6K were the runners who did not make it to the top 5 but came first under their age brackets. Jemaine Baaten is the champion under the six to 15 years old category; Warlin Dogui-is, champion in the 16 to 30 years old bracket, and Janet Fachafad winner in the 31 to 45 years old category. 

For the 12K, male category, Vinson Ramos is the champion, Remuel Agpawon is first place, Waynerick Lazaro landed second place, Aldrin Balinggao got the third place, and Godfrey Farnican ranked fourth place.

In the 12K under the female category, Roxanne Roxas was the champion. Other runners who made it to the top 5 are Charmaine Pablo, Gawani Gaungen, Vanessa Ngallawen, and Zarah Marie Maddul.

The champions in the age category in the 12K are Michael Langaoan Jr., Carlos Afidchao, and Gener Gansuen under the six to 15 years old, 16 to 30 years old and 31 to 45 years old, respectively.

For the 22K, male category, Charlie Guzman landed champion and the top 5 were George Gonzales, Jephunneh Anengyao, Chester Nicod-am, and Jarret Jesco Ospig.

In the 22K female category, winners are Flore Marie Khensay – champion, followed by Marcelina Ongan, Fe Singlot, Sharon May Paydowan, and Johanna Gail Bustarde.

Romel Fecha is the champion in the 22K under the 31-45 years old category.

Special awards were given to five-year-old John Tracy Patayec as the youngest runner and Acofo as the oldest runner.

Patayec joined in the 6K.

The champion in every category received P3,000, a sash, and a necklace;  first place – P2,000 and a gong with an accent of inabel pendant; second place – P1,000 and a gong with an accent of inabel pendant; third and fourth place – P500 each and a gong with an accent of inabel pendant.
