Tinoc moms learn biz farming
by Leticia D. Laoagan

TINOC, Ifugao – Thirty-five mothers here graduated from the Farm Business School program of the Department of Agrarian Reform.

The program lasted for 25 days with participants meeting two days a week. The farmer-mothers are members of the Sto. Niño Parish Consumers Cooperative.

They were taught on Basic Recording and Accounting in relation to crop production where their expenses on farm inputs, volume of crops sent to the market during harvest time, and payment of their produce are recorded.

DAR Assistant Regional Director Robert Ampaguey told the graduates that they could request for trainings and livelihood projects as long as DAR has funds to finance such requests.

Provision of trainings is one of the priorities of DAR to empower groups and individuals become farmer-entrepreneurs.

Ampaguey said that technical trainings are conducted in partnership with the departments of Trade and Industry, Agriculture, and Science and Technology.

Gov. Pedro Mayam-o and Mayor Marcelo Catalino joined the graduates during the graduation rites.

Mayam-o encouraged his constituents to work together to reduce poverty and promote health and education to help make the province a better place to live in.
