BenCab marks 9th w/ love letters
by Press release

The BenCab Museum celebrates its 9th anniversary with Love letters from Tawang: Stills and scapes of the mountain, an exhibition of oil paintings by Kelly Ramos at BenCab Museum’s Gallery Indigo.

These works are the culmination of the artist’s personal art residency in the mountains of Tawang, La Trinidad. For three years, she and her two home-schooled children lived in a clay house, away from the city in the middle of pine trees and bamboo, among wild birds, and a handful of pets. Together, the works chronicle life in the mountain in oil-on-canvas paintings of landscapes, still life, pets, and people.

This is Kelly’s third solo exhibition. She took up Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines Diliman. As a student, she received the Juror’s Prize for nonrepresentational painting from the Art Association of the Philippines in 1991.

She was a regional finalist in the Philippine Art Awards in 2007. From her hometown in Cagayan de Oro, Kelly moved to Baguio in 2012 where she continues to paint, write, and raise her three sons.

Museum visitors can also view Old Master Prints at BenCab Museum’s Print Gallery, featuring 16th to 18th century etchings and engravings by Rembrandt, Goya, Dürer, et al.

Both exhibitions are on view until April 1.

BenCab Museum is located at Km. 6 Asin Road, Tuba. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.mm to 6 p.m. The museum is closed Mondays, Christmas Day, and New Year. For details, contact (074) 442-7165 or 0920-530-1954, email bencabartfoundation@gmail.com, or visit www.bencabmuseum.org.
