BCBC sets election of officers on Feb 16

The Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) will hold its general elections on Feb. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Philippine Information Agency regional office.

BCBC past president Delmar Cariño, chair of this year’s election committee, said members who intends to run for any position should file their notarized certificates of candidacy at the PIA office on or before 5:30 p.m. of Feb. 13.

A candidate should state that he or she is a regular BCBC member and an active member who has been regularly covering news and media events for the last 12 months preceding the elections.  

The candidate must be an incumbent member of a media outfit at the time of the filing of interest to run as club officer.

A “media outfit” shall mean “mainstream newspaper, television, radio or on line media news provider.” Pure bloggers and hobbyists (writers/photographers) are disqualified, Cariño said.

The election committee will meet after the deadline of filing of certificates of candidacy to determine the eligible candidates.

The following are the positions to be filled up: president; vice president for print, radio, and television; secretary; treasurer; auditor; and four members of the board of directors.

Candidates and members must pay their annual dues before they can vote.

Canvassing of votes will be done by the elections committee, who also sits as board of canvassers.

The election committee is composed of past BCBC presidents  March Fianza of Northern Philippine Times, Jonathan Llanes of Sunstar Baguio, Liza Agoot of Philippine News Agency, and Migs Velarde of Sky Cable.
