TVET enlistment focuses on 2 skills
by Chrizel F. Bangaoet

The city government participated in the Special National Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Day and jobs bridging special edition for construction and Information Technology and Business Process Management on April 5 and 6.

The two-day event was initiated by the Technical Education and Skill Development Authority, which focused on the construction and IT sector in which the demand for employment is high.

Tesda Regional Director Efren Piñol said that these activities are needed because a lot of job opportunities are offered but the clients lack information.

He added the project is in line with President Duterte’s “Build, build, build” program that bankrolled a lot of infrastructure projects nationwide.

The program is also a way to assess competency of workers applying for jobs in the infrastructure sectors.

Piñol thanked the city government and the Department of Labor and Employment and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration for supporting the event.

Tesda OIC Administrator Hector Laguadia said that the event allows applicants to avail of free TVET training and scholarship, and assist TVET graduates to find employment.

Nathanael Marcos, one of the enrollees, said that the program is a good opportunity because it is free.

Those qualified to enroll in the TVET are high school graduates who are at least 18 years old and are physically fit because of the demand of construction works.
