Child dev’t workers recognized for services
by Rose D. Daguypen

BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office awarded 42 child development workers in recognition of their dedication in giving care and early education to children last Nov. 29.

Workers who have been serving for 20 years or more were given certificates of recognition and cash incentives. Those who have been in service for 20 to 25 years received a cash incentive of P2,000; P5,000; for 29-30 years, and P7,000 for 31-35 years.

Ana C. Chumawar, a child development worker who began teaching in 1982 shared her experiences to inspire her colleagues. She said that even with lack of support back then, she took the challenge with optimism.

“The hardship in teaching and taking care of the children should not hinder us from serving. Instead, let us be patient and be supportive,” Chumawar said.

Acting Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan and Acting Vice Governor Francis Tauli acknowledged the contributions of the early child development workers.

Lacsawan said their efforts are not in vain as they are part of the success of the children in the future.

“You will always be remembered by those you cared for and taught. (Remember), they are your immeasurable rewards.

The childhood development workers were also given aid amounting to P2,800 as part of the bayan muna program of the provincial government.
