As part of its corporate responsibility, Tiongsan (TS) La Trinidad and Harrison, two of the region’s leading supermarkets and department stores, invited young artists from high schools of La Trinidad, Benguet and Baguio City to showcase their artistic talents in a project dubbed as “Mama Mia goes Cordillera” last July 30.

The event gave students an opportunity to dress up as Mama Mia, TS’s clientele symbolic figure, in a drawing art form contest and in a fashion show featuring traditional ethnic attire, corporate attire, and neo-ethnic dress.

Plum prizes awarded to the winning participants in the drawing art contest include P5,000 for the first prize, P2,500 for the second prize, and P1,500 for the third prize winners along with gift packs.

In the fashion showdown, the first prize winner received P10,000, the second prize winner got P5,000, and the third prize was P3,000. The school represented by the first winner received P25,000 worth of equipment and materials.

Bringing home the prizes in the drawing art contest are Rembrandt Jhon Bernal of Benguet National High School, first place; Titus Castro of La Trinidad National High School, second place; and Justine Kate Malinda of Eastern La Trinidad National High School, third place.

Winners in the fashion showdown are Raven Cinthy Anne Agoo of Benguet National High School, first place; Kristine Nicole Almirol of Baguio City National High School, second place; and Allison Paguirigan of La Trinidad National High School, third place.

The project was launched in coordination with the Department of Education-Cordillera which comprised the panel of judges together with some arts and fashion enthusiasts in Baguio and La Trinidad.

Other young artists who took part were from Irisan National High School and Doña Aurora National High School.

The contest took place at the Tiong San department store La Trinidad branch at Km. 4, La Trinidad, Benguet.
