In observance of the 112th civil service anniversary with the theme, Kawani: Ikaw ay isang lingkod bayani, the Civil Service Commission spearheads the conduct of the 2012 government choral competition.
The competition aims to showcase the musical creativity of government employees and to promote Filipino culture and arts through choral singing.
The search will be undertaken in two phases: Phase 1 – selection of semifinalists to represent the Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and National Capital Region clusters. Two semifinalists will be selected from each cluster.
In phase 2, the eight semifinalists will compete in the grand finals to be held on Sept. 17.
All registration forms and requirements must be submitted on or before July 31 to the CSC Regional Office at No. 3 San Fernando, Pampanga for the Luzon cluster.
The criteria include, 40 percent choral sound (tonal quality of the ensemble), 40 percent musicianship (faithfulness to the written score), 20 percent programming (variety, difficulty and suitability to both the competition theme and the capacity of the choir of repertoire).
Prizes are P100,000 for the grand prize and plaque; P70,000 for the first runner-up, and a plaque; P50,000 for the second runner-up and a plaque; and P30,000 for the third runner-up.
The four finalists will receive P15,000 each and a certificate.
