Intellectualization of Filipino language confab opens in city

The National Congress for the Intellectualization of the Filipino Language or the Pambansang Kongreso Para sa Intelektwalisasyon ng Wikang Filipino opened at the Teachers Camp last Aug. 3 as part of this month’s obersevance as Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa.

Spearheaded by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino the national congress   is one of the major activities of the National Language Month or Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa this year,  with the theme “Filipino: Wika ng ka-runungan.”

KWF spearheads languag-related and cultural activities every August starting with the national congress.

KWF Chairman Virgilio Almario said  the national congress is the first language congress that brings together teachers, practitioners, and experts from various fields and disciplines to outline concrete steps for the use of Filipino in their res-pective domains.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan graced the ceremony together with Department of Science and Techno-logy-Cordillera Director Victor Mariano, who represented DOST Sec. Fortunato Dela Peña who was the guest speaker.

The national congress ended last Aug. 5.

It was held in partnership with the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Civil Service Commission.

KWF, the government agency mandated to develop and promote languages in the country, gathered more than 500 language experts, teachers, writers, students, and other cultural workers on Filipino language to tackle issues on the development of Filipino language and to craft concrete steps in intellectualizing the Filipino language into education, in the technological and scientific domains from the different parts of the country.
