Rizal LGU sustains track record on AM project implementation
by Peter A. Balocnit / PIA

RIZAL, Kalinga – Two road improvement projects in this town funded under the Assistance to Municipalities (AM) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government are nearing completion, ahead of the March 2021 target completion date.

The projects in Liwan West were inspected by the Provincial Project Monitoring Committee (PPMC), Nov.10, during its first round of inspection this quarter.

Mayor Karl Baac said the Municipal Engineering Office fast-tracked these projects with total cost of P8.9 million.

Rizal was allotted bigger funds this year under DILG’s AM program for good performance and track record on AM project implementation.

The PPMC also inspected the P500,000 water system project in Rizal and found it on track of schedule for completion. This would benefit 75 families.

The PPMC also visited the P9.8-M Balong resettlement site preparation with access road project funded by the provincial government unit, which is targeted for completion on Nov. 30.

The four-hectare resettlement site is intended for families affected by the ongoing road right-of-way clearing.

The PPMC found out the construction of the access road is stalled with no workers on site during the inspection.

Other projects inspected are the P27-M upgrading/embankment of the Bulanao-Balong Provincial Road-Balong-Laya section and Appas box culvert funded by provincial government and the P1.5-M improvement of the two-lane NIA access road to the Caraa grounds in Tabuk.
