Geothermal project partners aid host villages in Kalinga
by Press release

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The project partners behind the Kalinga Geothermal Project are doing their part to support their host communities amid the national health emergency brought about by the coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19).

Project partners Aragorn Power and Energy Corporation (APEC), Guidance Management Corporation (GMC), and Allfirst Kalinga Holdings Inc. (AKHI) have been closely monitoring the situation of the Kalinga communities in line with the imposition and subsequent extension of the enhanced community quarantine.

To help out the communities, the project partners provided P560,000 worth of assistance in terms of food packs to over 1,000 families in Lubuagan and Pasil, rice packs for 436 households in Balatoc, and logistical support for the interagency task force checkpoints in those areas.

Project contractors DESCO Inc., UZMA Engineering Ltd., and CSA Resources Corporation have also done their part by providing 150 sacks of rice and canned goods.

To support local efforts to contain the pandemic, personal protective equipment (PPE) have been provided to the Kalinga provincial government upon the instance of Gov. Ferdinand B. Tubban and in collaboration with the NCIP provincial office under Atty. Catherine G. Apaling.

The PPEs include 200 N95 face masks, 200 face shields, 28 boxes of surgical masks, 200 medical goggles, 20 boxes of sterile gloves, and 18 units of thermal scanners.

Similar PPEs were earlier provided to the Pasil and Lubuagan local governments, as well as thermal scanners for use of Pasil and Lubuagan medical personnel.

The provincial government intends to distribute the PPEs and medical equipment equally to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH), TALACA Taskforce, Balbalan District Hospital, Lubuagan District Hospital, Pinukpuk District Hospital, Rizal District Hospital, Tanudan Municipal Hospital, Tanudan MHO, and Tinglayan MHO.

The Kalinga Geothermal Project provided a total of P390,000 worth of PPE to augment the requirements of the KPH, the satellite health facilities in the various municipalities, and the Lubuagan and Pasil MHOs.

“The Kalinga project partners APEC, GMC, and AKHI respectfully extend our best wishes and prayers for the Kalinga leaders and constituents to continue to be blessed with good health and stability in these extraordinary times,” said project manager Eugene G. Sunio.

“Despite the situation, we try to proceed with the project with utmost caution while observing the protocols and precautionary measures prescribed by the health agencies and medical experts to safeguard the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and host communities,” Sunio added.
