DAR distributes 109 CLOAs to farmer-beneficiaries in Kalinga
by Peter A. Balocnit / PIA

TABUK City, Kalinga – The Department of Agrarian Reform recently distributed 109 emancipation patents/certificate of land ownership award (CLOA) to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the province.

Beneficiaries from Bugnay, Tinglayan received 21 titles while ARBs from Naneng in this city received 87 titles.

Tattoo artist Maria Whang-od Oggay was also awarded as the Outstanding Woman Agrarian Reform Beneficiary.

In the two separate CLOA distributions, DAR Usec. Karlo Bello encouraged the farmers to safeguard their lands and make them productive.

He discouraged them from selling their lands as he assured that DAR will continue supporting them through other services like livelihood and farm implements.

Bello also led the awarding of a plaque of recognition and P10,000 cash gift to Whang-od   in Bugnay. While engaged in tattooing, Whang-od still manages her farm.

Grace Orosco of the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office said they expect to distribute nine more EPs/CLOAs this second quarter covering 9.4 hectares upon registration and release of titles by the Register of Deeds.

Ten hectares are also being researched for processing including documentation and identification of beneficiaries to nine target ARBs, Orosco added.

In 2018, DAR Kalinga distributed 30 EPs/CLOAs covering 15.5 hectares.

DAR also implemented five support facilities benefiting various farmer organizations while three are ongoing. These projects range from processing facilities to water sanitation.
