Rizal donates band instruments to PNP
by PIA–Kalinga

RIZAL, Kalinga – The Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) may soon have its own marching band with the recent donation of the municipal local government unit of a set of musical instruments.

The instruments, worth more than P400,000,  include one radio bass, two trombones, one alto saxophone, one tenor saxophone, three clarinets, one flute, one French horn, two trumpets, one each of baritone, bass drum, snare drum, triple drum, and cymbal.

S/Supt. Alfredo Dangani, KPPO provincial director, expressed the command’s gratitude to the municipal government for coming to their rescue when KPPO could not afford to provide itself the instruments.

“Like a hero providing one’s needs, Rizal by its name alone, is a hero on this aspect. You are our hero,” he said.

He said the support is vital in boosting the PNP’s morale.

Flordeliza Magkilat, a member of Rizal PNP Municipal Advisory Council (MAC), said the idea of buying band instruments came about while watching a parade at the police regional headquarters in Camp Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet during an awarding ceremony for best police units. They were amazed by the sound and melody of the instruments.

“Coming home, we discussed and approved to buy the instruments using MAC funds,” Magkalit said, adding that the municipal government will also shoulder the training of players as part of the donation package.

Mayor Marcelo dela Cruz Jr. said the presence of the municipal government will be felt every time the band instruments are played during provincial and municipal affairs and other significant events.
