by Larry Lopez / PIA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Displaced and Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) of the Department of Labor and Employment benefitted 3,545 individuals here.

Francis Dale Biag of the City Public Employment Service Office said the program in partnership with the city local government unit provides 10-day community work this month to families affected by super typhoon Lawin that battered the province last year.

Also included as Tupad beneficiaries are surrenderers of the “Oplan Double Barrel” of the Philippine National Police.

Those hired are assigned to conduct clearing of roadsides, waterways, and government establishment sites and are paid daily wage of P290. The fund for the wages of Tupad workers are allotted by DOLE, which transfers the fund to the local government unit.

Those hired need to secure term insurance with the Government Service Insurance System.

Biag said the emergency work is timely in Tabuk where massive clean-up operation is up due to the surge in dengue cases.
