DOST now accepting scholars for Phil Science High School

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Application for three scholarships under Department of Science and Techno-logy are now open for qualified students.

A team from DOST Cordillera recently visited 20 elementary schools in the province to distribute application forms for the DOST-Philippine Science High School System (PSHS) National Competitive Examination (NCE) for incoming grade 7 for school year 2017-2018.

Deadline of application is Sept. 1. The competitive examination is on Oct. 21.

Also open for interested graduating grade 12 students are the DOST undergraduate scholarship program under Republic Act 7687or the Science and Technology Act and the DOST-SEI Merit scholarship program under RA 20167.

Deadline of application is Aug. 15 and exam is set on Oct. 15.

For the 2017 Junior Level Science Scholarship for third year college students, deadline for filing of application is Sept. 22 and the national competitive examination is on Nov. 19.

Application forms are available at the DOST-CAR regional office or at any of the provincial science and technology centers. Forms may also be downloaded from the DOST Science Education Institute website at www.sei.dost.gov.

Privileges under these scholarship programs include tuition and other school fees, book allowance, monthly living allowance, transportation allowance, and group insurance, among others.

Under the DOST-SEI undergraduate scholarship program, the agency awards Bachelor of Science degree scholarships to students who wish to pursue priority fields of study in science, mathematics, and engineering.

Existing S&T priority courses include Agriculture, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Forestry, Information Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mathematics and Science Teaching, among others.
