Ifugao LGU releases P440,000 for Typhoon Ulysses victims

BANAUE, Ifugao – The provincial government released P440,000 as financial aid for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses in the province and nearby Nueva Vizcaya.

Gov. Jerry U. Dalipog handed over the financial assistance to the bereaved families of the casualties of the landslides in the province and in Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya who are from Ifugao.

The families of the 15 casualties from Banaue, Lagawe, Mayoyao, and Hungduan received P30,000 each. The injured individual who is now recuperating at the hospital received P20,000.

Twelve persons, including four personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Ifugao 2nd District Engineering Office, were buried in a landslide at Sitio Nabitu, Viewpoint, afternoon of Nov. 12. One survived the incident.

The bodies of the 10 victims were recovered while one remains missing and is still the subject of search, rescue, and retrieval operations.

Dalipog expressed his condolences and shared words of encouragement to the families of the victims.

He said during calamities, everyone should be vigilant and follow precautionary measures to avoid loss of lives.

Meanwhile, the second batch of relief goods collected through the Baddang Ifugao donation drive of the Ifugao Youth Association (IYA) were transported and distributed in Cagayan and Tuguegarao City.

The relief goods consisted of rice, groceries, breads, hygiene kits, face masks, alcohols, slippers, shoes, bags, and blankets.

The IYA, in partnership with the Ifugao Provincial Police Office, delivered the first batch of relief goods in Isabela.

Alfonso Lista and Aguinaldo also delivered their respective assistance consisting of assorted goods to Cagayan and Isabela.

Aguinaldo Mayor Gaspar Chilagan, Jr. with some municipal heads delivered to Ilagan, Isabela food packs, gallons of water, and sacks of rice funded by the municipal government.

He thanked the volunteers who repacked the relief goods.

Alfonso Lista Mayor Edralin Alipio also lauded the donors, volunteers, and those who organized the collection of relief goods.
