Defense chief visits 54th IB HQ in Ifugao

KIANGAN, Ifugao – Department of National Defense Delfin N. Lorenzana visited the home of the Magilas troopers at the headquarters of 54th Infantry Battalion (54IB), Tiger Hill, Sitio Ibulao, Baguinge in this town on May 4.

He was welcomed by the 54IB officers and men under battalion commander Ltc. Narciso B. Nabulneg Jr. and stakeholders who are actively involved in implementing peace and order within the unit’s area of operation.

“It’s the unit’s pride and honor to personally update the Secretary on the intensified anti-insurgency campaign in support to the higher headquarters intentions,” Nabulneg said.

They presented to Lorenzana recovered and surrendered firearms and other war materiel, as well as two transformed former rebels who were rescued by the 54IB troops during the intensified anti-insurgency campaign last year.

Lorenzana emphasized on the morale and welfare of troops and on the operational tactics, techniques and procedures in implementing the mission.

Nabulneg considers Lorenzana’s setting foot in the “humble” home of the Magilas Troopers, which is one of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ front liners, a rare opportunity.

“We have showcased our strong bond of partnership in our areas of operation in implementing a genuine whole of nation approach, as recognized by the DND secretary. I call and encourage every stakeholder to help put into action our efforts for a long and lasting peace we all dream of, and unite for the betterment of our communities,” Nabulneg said.
