No relapses in Ifugao’s drug rehab program
by Marcelo B. Lihgawon / PIA

KIANGAN, Ifugao – None of the more than 100 former drug users who underwent rehabilitation at the Ifugao Reflection Camp (IRC) has relapsed.

Based on the monitoring of the anti-drug abuse councils, Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Joseline Niwane said no one of the 109 rehabilitated drug personalities (RDPs) returned to their old ways as supplier, pusher or user.

Niwane said all of them appeared to be sustaining an average of 80 percent compliance to their individual recovery plans, while 62 percent of those in aftercare are involved in family-focused livelihood projects with loans granted by the Department of Labor and Employment.

The 109 RDPs have completed the six-month community-based drug rehabilitation program involving physical, psychological, spiritual reformation, and capacity building and skills training at the IRC – a provincial-government run rehabilitation facility.

Meanwhile, the Ifugao Police Provincial Office reported that from July 2016 to present, a total of 19 drug personalities were arrested in marijuana eradication drives; implementation of search warrants and warrants of arrest; and buy bust operations.
