Cash aids released to Kalinga elders, Ifugao 4Ps recipients
by PIA release

The Department of Social Welfare and Development released millions worth of financial assistance to senior citizens in Kalinga and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Ifugao.

The DSWD released P7.524 million under its Unconditional Cash Transfer Program to senior citizens in Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Bella Manuel of Tabuk City Social Welfare and Development Office said 3,135 indigent and frail senior citizens got P2,400 annual cash assistance each.

More than 10,000 senior citizens are registered in Tabuk City but only 3,135 qualified for the assistance.

Qualified beneficiaries get monthly cash support of P200 on top of DSWD’s regular social pension to senior citizens.

City Mayor Ferdinand B. Tubban commended the elderly who are still actively involved in community projects even at their retirement years.

The city government sponsors monthly social pension and provides mortuary and livelihood assistance to senior citizens.

In Mayoyao, Ifugao, 528 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program received their cash grants with the help of the Municipal Police Office.

A total of P2.2M, transported by personnel of the Lagawe Multipurpose Cooperative (LMDC) Alfonso Lista branch, was disbursed to 4Ps beneficiaries from the 27 barangays with PNP personnel providing security assistance.

LMDC is the conduit of the Land Bank of the Philippines, which is the DSWD’s partner in the releasing Pantawid Pamilya cash grants.

The involvement of police personnel during the transport and disbursement of money to the 4Ps beneficiaries came after alleged robbers carted away P2.7M intended for cash grants of Tinoc beneficiaries last May. The money was taken while it was being delivered by personnel of LMDC main office in Lagawe.
