DICT opens second Tech4ED in Ifugao
by PIA-Ifugao

KIANGAN, Ifugao – The Department of Information and Communications Technology opened its Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development (Tech4ED) center in this town on July 31.

Ifugao Provincial DICT Team Lead Donad Trinidad said that this is the second Tech4ED center to be established in the province. The first center was set up in Aguinaldo in January.

Prior to the opening of the Tech4ED Center at the municipal tourism building, DICT Project Development Officer for Technology Edison Agawid provided the training to five people who will be responsible for center’s management and operation.

Through the Tech4ED centers, the government aims to improve the digital literacy of people in the communities and bring online learning and government services closer to the people.

The Tech4ED center will serve as a self-sustaining shared facility providing access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-enabled services and relevant content to the people.

It will also serve as a conduit for the efficient delivery of government and other services for the empowerment and participation of the un-served and underserved communities.

The project components are content development, capability building, and advocacy and promotion with the goal of providing and developing innovative ICT-enabled services and content for the socio-economic development of communities.

The project evolved from the Philippine Community e-Center Program, a national digital inclusion initiative through e-centers that provide critical e-government and ICT-enabled services in communities with minimal or no access to information and government services.
