Parents told: Make sure kids go to school with rain gears
by PIO release

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) called on parents and guardians to make sure that the children have rain gears when they start attending classes.

LDRRM Officer II Louie Glenn Lardizabal said that because of the daily afternoon rains experienced in the city, parents and guardians to ensure that their children bring with them their rain gears when they go to school.

“We hope that parents and guardians are prepared with their children’s rain gears so their children can immediately go home after their classes,” Lardizabal said.

The LDRRMO is conducting a series of training among members of the barangay risk reduction and management councils and employees of the city government and emergency responders on disaster preparedness to ensure the readiness of stakeholders for natural and man-made hazards.

Lardizabal also advised parents and guardians to get in touch with school administrators if they want to  know if there are class suspensions during heavy rains but there is no typhoon signal.

He said that the LDRRMO is tasked to make the recommendations based on the prevailing situation to guide decision-makers on whether or not there is a need to declare suspension of classes during bad weather conditions.
