Top nutrition workers feted

The city government received the Nutrition Honor Award during the Nutrition Month culminating program at the PFVR gymnasium on Aug. 2.

The city received its first Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (Crown) award in 2015 after three years of garnering green banners, followed by the first and second maintenance up to the national level, and later the Presidential award.

The consistent and passionate efforts of the city’s nutrition workers for more than six years made the award a reality, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said as he lauded the service, loyalty, and outstanding nutrition and barangay awardees.

The city received P1 million cash for the award.

For the Best Performing Barangay Nutrition committee, the awardees are: Gibraltar with Punong Barangay (PB) Nemesio Huag, SLU-SVP with PB Heraldo Lamaton, Lower Quirino Hill with PB Van Oliver Dicang, Upper Quezon Hill with PB Dinah Campos, Alfonso Tabora with PB Virginia Pugong, Dominican-Mirador with PB Remedios Laigo, DPS Compound with PB Ariel del Monte, Happy Hallow with PB Joseph Sacley, and Pinsao Proper with PB Horacio Willy.

Imelda Village is a Crown maintenance awardee for being a consistent outstanding winner in nutrition for several years now.

The Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) awardees are Noemi Garcia of Alfonso Tabora, Joan Vister of T. Alonzo, Maneth Joyce Paran of Irisan, Virginia Molina of SLU-SVP, Marriane Ramos of Lourdes Proper, Celia Garcia of Scout Barrio, Joy Dangpilen of Sto. Tomas Central, Julie Tiago of Dontogan, Medina Masla of Mines View, Sheila Macio of Sto. Tomas Proper, and Michelle Soliven of Asin Road.

The awardees for Best Performing Barangay Nutrition Action Officers (BNAOs) are Ive Chua of T. Alonzo, Erica Jane Vinluan of San Antonio Village, Elsie Marie Placido of St. Scholastica, Mary Jane Cuevas of M. Roxas, and Nina Dey Orpia of Brookspoint. 

The assessment was done by the City Nutrition Evaluation Team (CNET) composed of Department of Interior and Local Government City Director Evelyn Trinidad, Community Affairs Officer Briccio Domondon, Nutrition Officer Angelita Sabado, Agriculture Officer Alberto Tomas, Social Welfare Officer Coralie Dulnuan, and City Disaster and Risk Reduction Officer Ruben Kigis.

BNS Remedios Martinez of Engineers Hill was awarded for 25 years of service and BNS Jo Ann Alvez of Salud Mitra and Yolanda Benlingan of Camp 7 for 20 years of service.
Christine Benbenen of Sto. Tomas and Marcelina Ciano of Happy Hallow were awarded for 15 years of service as BNAOs.

Middle Rock Quarry topped the Best Community Garden award, followed by Pinget, Ambiong, and Puliwes as second, third, and fourth, respectively.
