by Erwin S. Batnag

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Some 273 people availed themselves of the free services of the Philippine Neurological Association (PNA) North Luzon Chapter and Baguio General Hospital-Department of Neurology at the Eyeb Gymnasium here on Feb. 24.

Services rendered are free neural checkup and consultation, free prescription medicines from the association, information and education campaign on stroke, seizure disorders, and other neurological disorders to caregivers and beneficiaries.

One recipient who came from Paracelis was brought by her sister to avail of the free consultation.

“We are grateful for this activity which truly helped the less fortunate. We are also thankful to the Provincial Health Office for the timely dissemination of the information,” said one recipient from Besao who brought her son to avail of the free consultation and checkup.

The PNA aims to promote neurological health for all. By partnering with other institutions, its mission includes providing services to neurologic patients in communities that have limited access to healthcare.

The mission was in coordination with Mountain Province Provincial Health Office and was carried out through the assistance from the Office of Acting Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office, General Services Office, Bontoc Rural Health Unit, Department of Health-Mountain Province and all municipal health officers and chiefs of hospitals.

The physicians who participated in the neurologic mission were Drs. Divina Hernandez, PNA North Luzon Chapter president, Randolph Fangonilo, John Harold Hiyadan, Debbie Liquette, Maria Socorro Sarfati, Juvy Asuncion, Katrina Campos, Francis Lopez, Hazel Barrozo and Patricia Tayao.
