DOH allots P41 M for health infra in Mountain Province
by PIA

BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Department of Health allotted P41,672,000 for infrastructure projects this year.

Under the DOH’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program, Judith Louise Daoas of the Provincial Health Office reported during the recent Provincial Health Board meeting that the amount is for the construction of health centers, barangay health stations, and hospitals to sufficiently provide for emergency and primary care services.

The fund is appropriated to 20 barangay health stations, one rural health unit, and four hospitals in the province.

Of the total amount, P16.9M shall be used for 17 barangay health stations; P4,892,000 for equipping 12 barangay health stations; P1,750,000 for one rural health unit;  and P18,130,000 for the  Bontoc General Hospital, Barlig District Hospital, Besao District Hospital and Paracelis District Hospital.

Daoas said local government units are required to apply for permit to construct for all 2018 HFEP projects.

The HFEP seeks to upgrade the infrastructure and equipment of government health facilities across the country. This comes at the heels of budget allocations for the said program being newly released and ready for use.

The upgrading and rehabilitation of public health facilities is in line with the DOH’s overarching goal of providing universal health care and is in partnership with LGUs. Special emphasis is given to the poorest Filipino families as identified by the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction. As such, areas with the highest counts of poor Filipino families are priority sites for health facility improvements.
