NDAP to hold seminar prior to Nutri Month
by Maria Aprila W. Cruz

The Nutritionist-Dietitians Association of the Philippines-Baguio-Benguet will gather health and nutrition workers and other stakeholders on June 14 and 15 at Supreme Hotel to complement government efforts in addressing malnutrition and hunger in the country.

NDAP president Imelda Degay said with the persistence of malnutrition among significant groups of the populace, efforts to enhance nutrition education especially among program implementers should continue to be enhanced.

The 21st Pre-Nutrition Month seminar will  bring together nutritionist-dietitians and other allies, health professionals, members of local nutrition committees, and other health and nutrition workers from all over North Luzon to tackle not only the Nutrition Month theme,  “Ugaliing magtanim, sapat na nutrisyon aanihin” but also organic agriculture, agricultural education and development, functional properties of vegetables and fad diets. The leaky gut syndrome, nonverbal communication and leadership, standards in clinical practice, food service practices and trends, nutri-preneurship, food processing trends, cellular and molecular nutrition will also be discussed, Degay said.

The goal is to enhance awareness and capability among the participants   as they prepare to celebrate Nutrition Month in July and towards a better performance in their respective work areas, she added.

Speakers include Dr. Marlowe Aquino of Mariano Marcos State University, regional nutrition program coordinator for Region 1 Eileen Blanco, and St. Luke’s Medical Center dietitians-now turned entrepreneurs Nenette Umali and Cecilia Racela. They will be joined by local experts.

Interested participants may contact 0908-211-8688.
