Bontoc students benefit from MP dentists’ two–day mission

FOR BETTER HEALTH -- Dr. Natividad Orprecio of the provincial Department of Health office led the two-day dental mission at Saint Vincent’s School in Bontoc, Mountain Province last Feb. 6 and 7 in partnership with the school’s family council and alumni association. The dentists were assisted by personnel from the provincial DOH, DepEd, Bontoc General Hospital, and nursing students from Mountain Province State Polytechnic College during the mission, where they underscored the importance of dental health for one’s well-being. -- Ferdie Castañeda

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Dentists from the province in coordination with the Department of Health provincial office conducted a two-day mission at Saint Vincent’s School for elementary, junior high, and senior high school students on Feb. 6 and 7.

The activity, which was in partnership with the family council and the alumni association of the school, offered services such as oral examination, dental extraction, oral prophylaxis, and dental health education, according to Dr. Natividad Orprecio of the DOH provincial office.

“We thank our dentists. The activity is very helpful to our students and our elementary pupils,” said Letty Dacawe, president of the school’s family council, hoping that all grade levels will be accommodated next year.

Orprecio said they were happy and satisfied for having served many patients during the dental mission.

The dental team was composed of Orprecio, Dr. Agueda Na-oy of Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital of Bauko, Dr. Vavily Alicda of the rural health unit of Tadian, Dr. Lyn Dup-et of the rural health unit of Bauko, Dr. Fausta Nacatab from the Besao District Hospital, Dr. Glory Angawa of the Department of Education, Dr. Flordeliza Banguigui of the DOH, and Dr. Joylyn Oyam, an overseas Filipino worker.

Those who assisted the dentists are Daphne Palangdosan and Venus Mae Chengay from Bontoc General Hospital, Caesa Guillet and Jebby Manzano from the  provincial DOH, Samuel Luy-od from DepEd, Wella Lang-ayan from Tadian, Esther Alcido from Bauko, Johnny Awichen Jr., the dental bus driver, and four nursing students from Mountain Province State Polytechnic College.
