Sagada gets free meds from RC
by Clare Lalwe

SAGADA, Mountain Province – The Rotary Club of Sagada turned over medicines and nebulizers to students and selected barangay health centers.

Two thousand mebendazole tablets were distributed to the students of Angkileng National High School (ANHS), ANHS-Balugan extension, Sagada National High School, and Aguid Elementary School. The two nebulizers on the other hand, were allocated for the barangay health centers of Suyo and Demang.

This is the first project of the club that supplements the disease prevention and treatment program of the government, particularly the deworming program of Department of Health and the Department of Education.

The Rotary Club of Sagada was initiated in late 2010 by former Sagada chief of police Dinky Del-ong. He was then the president of the Rotary Club of La Trinidad in Benguet province.  After a series of orientations conducted by officers of the Rotary District 3790, the club was finally chartered last Feb. 2.

The first set of officers are Vice mayor Richard Yodong as the president, Bontoc Councilor William Aspilan as vice president, and Dr. Clare Lalwet as secretary.

The induction and presentation of the charter was attended by then District 3790 governor nominee Linda Apil Winter, former assistant district governor Dr. Romeo Concepcion Jr., and representatives from the eight rotary clubs of Cluster 1-C in Baguio City and La Trinidad.

District 3790 is comprised of the rotary clubs of Ilocos Norte up, Baguio City, Benguet, and recently Mountain Province.

RC Sagada is the first rotary club organized in Mountain Province, the ninth in the cluster, and the 100th club in the district.
