Top cop wants BCPO as role model of Cordillera police
by Rose Celine R. Jimenez

The Baguio City Police Office, being the show window of the Cordillera police force, must always strive for excellence which starts with a presentable, well-groomed, and officers wearing the prescribed uniform.

This was underscored by C/Supt. Rolando Nana, Police Regional Office-Cordillera director, when he led the inspection of all policemen and women of the BCPO to ensure that each member complies with the Philippine National Police Manual on Operational Procedure.

Ang inspection kasi, dito natin makikita ang state of discipline ng isang organization. Kung maganda ang makikita natin sa inspection, dapat din ito ang standard sa kanilang pagpe-perform ng duties,” Nana told the BCPO personnel led by S/Supt. Ramil Saculles, the city police director.

He added: “Ito naman, exclusive ‘tong inspection na ginawa ko. Alam naman natin na ang Baguio City Police Office ang show window of the Cordillera. Dapat sila ang best sa kapulisan ng Cordillera.”

The second rule of PNP Manual on Operational Procedures states that all members of the police force on duty should wear their authorized and prescribed uniform and should appear presentable, smart, and well-groomed at all times before the public.

Last weekend’s inspection subjected all policemen and women to be checked from their caps to shoes, the overall police uniform, the officers’ grooming, and firearms.

Some minor violations checked were crumpled uniform, use of non-prescribed socks, lusterless shoes and belt buckle, lack of hairnet for women, long hair for men, and dirty firearms.

Saculles said that the rate of violations done by the BCPO personnel during his watch is low and only a few number cases were filed against police personnel.

Nana, meanwhile, reminded all BCPO personnel to focus their efforts on the anti-criminality, war on drugs, and corruption while the PNP leadership is sustaining its internal discipline and internal cleansing.
