Kalinga residents welcome partial completion of FMR
by Jesse Maguiya

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Residents of four villages here will now have easier access to the market with the opening of 10.41 kilometers of the 15.8-km. road project of the government.

The Bado Dangwa-Guilayon farm-to-market road (FMR) which leads to barangays Bado Dangwa, Nambucayan, Guilayon, and Magnao is a P275-million project funded under the Philippine Rural Development Program of the Department of Agriculture with counterpart from the city government and implemented by the provincial government.

Residents from four more villages will benefit from project when the remaining five kilometers are paved.

The project will boost the production of coffee from Nambucayan, Guilayon, and Magnao, which covers 39 hectares of coffee plantation.

DA Secretary William Dar led the inauguration of the project last Sept. 30.

Gov. Ferdinand Tubban said concreting of all roads in the province has long been a dream of officials and residents.

“The concreting of this road is a blessing to the residents who have been praying for it for many years now,” he said.

A resident of Barangay Guilayon said they used to travel for at least three hours on an “abortion road” using a motorcycle or a four-wheel-drive public utility jeepney going to the city to purchase supplies or sell their produce.

With the project, residents can now easily bring their agricultural products to the market and purchase their needs.

So far, four FMRs have been completed in Kalinga. These are the Banneng-Gumbowoy FMR in Tanudan, Bulanao-Amlao FMR in Tabuk City; Cattabugan-Wagud in Pinukpuk; and the newly inaugurated Bado Dangwa-Guilayon FMR
