Schools in Bontoc receive anti-COVID kits from LGU

FOR PUBLIC HANDWASHING -- The Bontoc municipal government led by Mayor Franklin Odsey has turned over washing facilities to 26 private and public schools to safeguard learners in the capital town from the Covid-19 infection and other illnesses that can be prevented through regular handwashing. -- Alpine Killa

BONTOC, Mountain Province – In time for the opening of classes in this capital town received handwashing facilities, disposable face masks, ethyl alcohol, and thermal scanners on Oct. 5 from the municipal government.

Mayor Franklin Odsey turned over the washing facilities, 35 thermal scanners, 1,000 boxes disposable face masks, and 300 bottles ethyl alcohol to 26 elementary and secondary private and public schools.

Odsey said with the opening of classes, all schools must adhere to the minimum health protocols to include proper wearing of face mask, proper physical distancing, body temperature check, and practice of good hygiene to include washing of hands with soap and water and sanitizing with ethyl alcohol.

The items provided to the schools are expected to help in the municipality’s fight against Covid-19 as it will protect teachers, students, and parents. The disposable face masks are intended for the teachers, students, and parents during the distribution of learning modules.

On behalf of the school heads in Bontoc, Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School Principal Atkinson Tudlong extended his gratitude to the municipal government for its support to the education sector.

Tudlong added the provision of the items is timely as the opening of classes in public schools started on Oct. 5.

Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Johanna Padaen said Department of Education-Bontoc district school heads of discussed on the allocation of the thermal scanners, disposable face masks and ethyl alcohol to each school.
