DENR recognizes partners in environmental programs
by PENRO Mountain Province release

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Mountain Province culminated the Environment Month celebration by recognizing its partners in the implementation and enforcement of environmental laws and through a brief information drive on its priority programs.

The Provincial ENR Office Mountain Province awarded one people’s organization from each of the Upper Chico watershed management units (WMU) and gave each a certificate as Best PO in the WMU.  

They are the Aliwes Irrigators Association, Inc. for the Baagmadoli WMU; the Siblaw Taraw Latang Organization, Inc. for BarTan WMU; and the Camatagan Ladies Association under the Kabamaam WMU.

For 2018, the Best Performing PO for the National Greening Program is Lebdan Banguitan Irrigators’ Association (Banguitan, Besao) and the Community-based Forest Management program for 2018 is the Banao Lagawa Area Management Group.

The Camatagan Ladies Association received their regional award as a Best Performing PO for NGP in 2018 given by the DENR regional office.

Certificates of appreciation were given to the Philippine Statistics Authority-Mountain Province, XiJen College, Banawel Elementary School, and Butigue National High School for their participation in the celebration of Arbor Day and in compliance to Executive Order 26 or the nationwide smoking ban order; as well as to the municipal police stations of Natonin, Paracelis, Sagada, Besao, Bauko, Bontoc, and Sabangan for their support and assistance in the enforcement of environmental laws; the 3rd Maneuver Platoon MPPMFV, 1st Platoon Mountain Province Safety Mobile Force Company; Alpha COY 77 Cadre Batallion 51D, PA; RPSB, Babalan, Tadian for being the partners and strong allies of Penro Mountain Province in the enforcement of environment laws.

Model barangays in solid waste management are Kayan West in Tadian and Dagdag and Bangaan in Sagada.

Sabangan OIC Community ENR Officer Elizabeth B. Antolin acknowledged the participants from local government units, people’s organizations, other government agencies, and private organizations.

Engr. Ernesto M. Anton, Provincial ENR officer, thanked the partners for their support and cooperation which allowed Mountain Province to be ranked second Best PENR Office during the 32nd DENR foundation day in Baguio City.
