TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government started to enforce President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s order to clear public roads from all forms of obstruction.
Armed with a copy of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular 2019-121 issued on July 29 mandating LGUs to clear public roads in 60 days, a team from the city government and Barangay Dagupan Centro cleared public roads around the city proper from illegal structures.
Even the police outpost obstructing traffic along the public market road was not spared from the clearing operation.
Barangay Dagupan Centro chairperson George Esteras prepared an inventory of illegal structures subject for clearing operation in his jurisdiction.
Barangays Laya East, Laya West, Dagupan West, and Bulanao Centro have also started their clearing operations.
City Legal Officer Arthur Kub-ao said that they are following due process in the clearing operations.
The team earlier notified owners of illegal structures and gave them time and the option to voluntary demolish their structures before the LGU proceeded with its clearing operations.
