Capacity trainings top feat of Ifugao PDRRMC
by PIA release

LAGAWE, Ifugao – Capability building activities towards a self-reliant province are the top accomplishments of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).

To capacitate PDRRMC members, responders, and stakeholders, they underwent trainings on mountain search and rescue, water search and rescue, and Enhanced Emergency Response during the second quarter of 2017.

To enhance the knowledge and skills of provincial and municipal DRRMC members in the proper handling and management of incidents during calamities, trainings on incident command system and on rapid damage assessment and needs analysis were conducted to improve their preparation and data generation to support reports and resolutions in the preparation of disaster plans and in the declaration of a state of calamity.

The PDRRMC also spearheaded the province’s participation in the quarterly national simultaneous earthquake drills. It also conducted fire and earthquake drills and information and education campaigns on disaster risk reduction and management in many barangays.

Other activities included facilitation of medical and psychological debriefing of Asipulo residents temporarily displaced by government and New Peoples Army skirmishes; assisted the National Irrigation Administration in the clearing, de-clogging and de-silting of irrigation canals at Barangay Hapid in Lamut; and assisted the Provincial Engineering Office and the towns of Lagawe and Hingyon in the clearing of roads obstructed by landslides due to heavy rains.

It also participated and contributed in the sectoral task on local climate change adaptation, Provincial Nutrition Council, and the Integrated Area Development Assistance Program.
