SNAP–Benguet receives asset management certification
by Press release

SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc. has passed the certification audit for the international Asset Management Standard (AMS) following the stage 2 audit of its Ambuklao and Binga hydroelectric power plants.

DQS Certification Philippines, a certifying body for management systems, conducted the two-stage audit for ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 55001:2014 for the 105-megawatt (MW) Ambuklao and 140-MW Binga facilities on March 13 and 14.

The audit produced two observations, namely on housekeeping, particularly on the location of critical assets; and the lock-out, tag-out system. The audit concluded with zero non-conformance observed, with DQS formally recommending issuance of the ISO 55001 Asset Management System Certificate to SN Aboitiz Power Benguet Inc.  The certification validates that SN Aboitiz Power has satisfied all the requirements of the management system and is consistently able to optimize the operation and maintenance of its assets with a balance between profitability, risks and performance of assets.

DQS Certification Phils. has been SNAP’s partner in several previous ISO certifications for Integrated Management Systems on Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety. Having one of the very first certified Filipino Asset Management Systems Auditor in Romeo Zamora, managing director for DQS, SNAP-Benguet also becomes the first Filipino company audited by DQS for Asset Management System.

“SNAP-Benguet is our first business unit to be internationally certified to the Asset Management System. This affirms our commitment to operating world-class energy facilities,” said SNAP Group President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Yu.

SNAP-Benguet’s AMS team is led by Assistant Vice President and Plant Manager Fernan Tongco, Sr., Manager for Safety, Health, Environment, Security and Quality Hollis Fernandez, and Maintenance Manager Jenarld Cervantes.

SNAP-Benguet, Inc. is a joint venture between SN Power and AboitizPower. It owns and operates the 105-MW Ambuklao Hydroelectric Power Plant and the 140-MW Binga Hydroelectric Power Plant.
