DENR explores Abra’s tour sites
by Christian Allister G. Tubadeza

BANGUED, Abra – A team from environment offices visited various tourist spots of Abra to assess their environmental conditions as part of the tour centering on the opportunity for eco-tourism in the province.

Personnel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Cordillera, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-Abra, and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Lagangilang and Bangued explored the Ganway Cave in Barangay Lusuac in Peñarrubia; the Sibud-Sibud Cave of Sitio Vira and the Piwek Rock Formation, both in Barangay Alaoa in Tineg; the Rizalista Cave in Barangay Laguiben, Lagangilang; and the Tabong Cave in Barangay Nagaparan in Danglas.

They assessed the sites for future development of the premises and the establishment of physical amenities and public utilities for the comfort of travelers and cavers.

The activity strengthens the people’s involvement in environmental governance, which is guided by the principles of the DENR’s Program for Environment and Natural Resources for Restoration, Rehabilitation and Development, which is anchored on the core principles of good and effective governance to safeguard inclusive growth for the country through the enhancement of the socio-economic conditions of local communities, all for the equitable enjoyment of the benefits derived from natural resources and healthy environment.
