State workers gather in clean–up initiative
by Peter A. Balocnit / PIA

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The celebration of Environment Month in this province concluded with an inter-agency clean up drive.

Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Information Officer Karen Razelle Duyan said  the  roadside clean up drive was participated in by employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Land Transportation Office, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Civil Service Commission, and Department of Science and Technology.

The group collected eight garbage bags of biodegradable materials and five big cans of non-biodegradable materials like plastic bottles, tin cans, candy wrappers and disposable diapers.

The participants also cut  grasses and cleaned  the road. The DENR signage located at the junction was also re-painted.

After the roadside clean-up, the participating agencies beautified their respective offices, Duyan said.

During the opening of this year’s celebration, 180 seedlings of narra and mahogany were planted on 1,080 square meters lot at the DENR’s arboretum in Callagdao.

The activity was in partnership with DPJ Engineers and Construction Company, a local private firm engaged in energy development as part of their social responsibility and in compliance to Executive Order 26 requiring every individual to plant at least 10 seedlings a year.
