Night checks on biz operations resume
by Aileen P. Refuerzo / PIO

The city government has resumed the conduct of night inspections to ensure that establishments are complying with the minimum public health standards and the general community quarantine guidelines.

The nightly operations are conducted by the Permits and Licensing Division, Public Order and Safety Division, and the Baguio City Police Office.

City Licensing Officer Allan Abayao said 33 establishments were inspected last Feb. 6 and 8 to check their compliance with the use of face masks based on Ordinance 45-20, observance of physical distancing as provided for under Ordinance 46-20, use of face shield based on Executive Order 93-20, sale or consumption of liquor based on EOs 171 and 195, and the GCQ guidelines.

Abayao said six establishments were issued notices of violations on the face mask requirement, five on social distan-cing, and two on the liquor directive.

Twenty-one establishments were issued warning for face shield use violations, 31 for violating the liquor consumption rule, and 33 for GCQ rule transgressions.

The seven establishments that were closed earlier for repeated protocol violations had been permitted to re-operate after satisfying the requirements for restitution.

Abayao said to be allowed to reopen, owners and employees of the establishments must undergo a seminar on minimum public health standards, submit commitment to observing the protocols at all times, and comply with all the sanitation requirements.

Abayao said these establishments were padlocked because of their habitual offense.

“First-time offenders are not closed outright but are issued notices of violations,” he said.
