Saint Louis University has assisted its students in various ways since the government implemented the Luzon-wide lockdown two months ago.

In his report to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, SLU President Rev. Fr. Gilbert Sales said from April 18 to May 6, the Ligtas Louisiano transport team has sent home 46 students to Bataan, Cavite, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Ilocos Sur, Tarlac, Calamba, Antipolo, and Batangas.

SLU also continues to coordinate the transportation of other students and gave  relief packs or cash. As of April 29, SLU has pending requests for the transportation of 280 students to Isabela, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, and Ifugao.

SLU’s Balik Probinsiya program also collaborated with the University of the Cordilleras, University of Baguio, and the University of the Philippines and sent home 33 students to Cavite, Nueva Ecija, Ilocos Sur, Pampanga, and Tarlac.

SLU also launched on March 16 Project Barangayanihan where relief packs were distributed to stranded students.

Project Mirasol offers free online psychological counseling to healthcare and frontline workers, families and friends of Covid-19 patients, and students having psychological concerns.

The Sirib Center of the School of Engineering and Architecture also designed personal protective equipment and disinfectants.
