Igorot beauty queen lauded
by PIO release

The city government paid tribute to a Baguio-born Igorot beauty queen who was recently crowned as 2019 Miss Face of Tourism Philippines and who will represent in the country in an upcoming international beauty contest.

Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan extended the local government’s greetings and congratulations to Miss Roxanne Agnaonao Baeyens, 22, a resident of Irisan, Baguio City but whose mother is from Catengan, Besao, Mountain Province, for being one of the numerous beauty queens who brought honor and pride to the city.

“We are proud of the recent achievement of Ms. Baeyens who happens to be my relative from Catengan, Besao. We hope that the achievement of our new beauty queen will serve as an inspiration to our youth to strive for the best in following her achievement,” Domogan said.

Baeyens was accompanied by organizers of the Ms. Face of Tourism Philippines when she visited the City Hall and solicited the support of the Baguio people to her participation to the Miss Tourism and Culture Universe in Myanmar in August.

She was a member of the special performing in the arts of the Baguio City National High School and completed her college education at the St. Louis University.

Baeyens’ mother, Julia Agnaonao, is from Besao while her father Walter Baeyens, a retired information technology specialist, is from Brussels, Belgium.

The young beauty queen said that she is proud to carry the name of Baguio City and the Cordillera in her participation in upcoming international beauty contests, considering that she was born and grew up in the city and that she learned to embrace the rich culture of the Cordillera.

She said Baguio City deserves to be one of the few cities in the world that was designated as part of the Unesco Creative Cities Network because of the rich culture and heritage of the city and the region.
