4Ps pensioners warned vs misinformation
by PIO release

The City Social Welfare and Development Office warned beneficiaries of anti-poverty initiatives of the government not to believe information being dished out by some political aspirants in the city who are claiming that they were the ones who pioneered the sourcing out of funds and implementation of these programs.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Betty Fangasan said despite the CSWDO’s clarification that the programs are not the work of one official alone, there are still some politicians who are trying to grab the credit for the programs, such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and the social pension program.

“Beneficiaries of the social pension program and 4Ps understand where the funds of these programs are coming from, specifically the Department of Social Welfare and Development, but there are some innocent individuals who are made to believe through sugar-coated words of some of our candidates aspiring to be elected city officials. Our anti-poverty reduction programs should not be used by our politicians to advance their personal and political interests,” Fangasan said.

The 4Ps and social pension fund was first implemented during the incumbency of the president, now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The Aquino and Duterte administrations sustained implementation of these programs, Fangasan said.

She said funds come from the annual budget of the DSWD. Fangasan said it is impossible for local politicians to claim that if not for them, these programs will not be implemented.
