Convention Center contractor called
by PIO release

Representatives of the Department of Public Works and Highways, the contractor of the Baguio Convention Center rehabilitation project, and other concerned offices have been invited to the city council’s session on Sept. 24 to shed light about some concerns regarding the building’s rehabilitation.

The rehabilitation is allegedly behind schedule and the program of work has been revised without the knowledge of the city government, according to Councilor Mylen Yaranon, chair of the city council committee on public works.

Those invited to appear during the session are Rep. Mark Go, DPWH-CAR Director Tiborcio Canlas DPWH-CAR Planning Division Chief Angelita Mabitasan, DPWH-CAR Architect Caesar Romel P. Quindara, City Buildings and Architecture Office head Nazita F. Bañez, Arch. Homer M. Soriano also of the CBAO, Engr. David Sanchez managing officer of EGB Construction Spiderone Construction Company Limited, Arch. Donna R. Tabangin of Saint Louis University, Engr. Joselito Buhangin, Arch. Joseph Alabanza, Arch. Joy Pascua of the United Architects of the Philippines, Arch. Eugene Lomogdan and Engr. Bonifacio dela Peña, dean of SLU School and Engineering and Architecture.

Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan said he is awaiting the report of the inspection and monitoring committee relative to the status of the project to be able to take the appropriate steps and consult with the DPWH on how the project is being undertaken.

Domogan said if the revisions will result in the improvement of the facility then the contractor may proceed with the project, but if there is significant deviation from the plans earlier approved by the DPWH and the local government then the matter has to be raised to the DPWH.

The BCC rehab costs P180 million.
