City recognizes best performing brgys, cites their importance

Baguio City’s best performing barangays for 2017 were recognized by the city government and the  Department of the Interior and Local Government during the recent 27th Local Government Day and Barangay Day celebration at the Athletic Bowl.

Middle Quezon Hill was chosen as Best Child Friendly Barangay; Irisan  with the Best Performing Senior Citizens Association;  Holy Ghost Proper as Best Persons with Disability- friendly Barangay; Sto. Tomas Proper with the Best Barangay Women’s Organization; Middle Quezon Hill, with the Best Lupong Tagapamayapa; Lower Quirino Hill with the Best Performing Barangay Nutrition Committee; and Atok Trail as the Barangay with Best Sanitation Practices.

The winners were awarded plaques of recognition and P50,000 as incentive for their achievements.

The celebration included an inter-district cheer dance competition, and awarding of winners in photography contest, best in barangay craft and food fair, and district street dancing. More fun and games were also held to conclude the activity.

With the theme, “Nagmamalasakit na pamahalaang lokal:  Sandigan ng maunlad at ligtas na pamayanan,” the annual activity was spearheaded by the city government through the Special Services Division under Noel Mabutas, DILG, and Liga ng mga Barangay.
