Group to host session on stability
by Rimaliza A. Opiña

The civil society organization formed during the elections in May to tackle issues besetting Baguio will convene on Nov. 10 at the University of the Philippines Baguio for a roundtable discussion on urban mobility.

The forum hosted by the Baguio We Want movement will feature a presentation of former Sangguniang Kabataan-Baguio president Karminn Yangot’s paper on sustainable urban mobility, UP Baguio Chancellor Raymundo D. Rovillos’ report on the International Ecomobility Conference recently held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Joseph Claridades’ proposal on traffic management, and Rep. Mark Go’s proposed BLISTT (Baguio City-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay) Development Authority.

Through the roundtable discussion, the group hopes to come up with viable proposals on how to manage the traffic problem of Baguio City and its environs; propose possible parking spaces within the BLISTT framework; and the next steps on the proposed car podium in Burnham Park.

The roundtable discussion, which will be conducted at UP’s Abraham Sarmiento Hall from 2 to 5 p.m., is open to the public.

The Baguio We Want is a movement that was an offshoot of a people’s summit launched by various sectors led by former Diocese of Baguio Bishop Carlito Cenzon. It came with a statement of what the citizens want for the future of the city.
